UnSent Stop Texting Him
Last updated: March 2026
Who We Are
UnSent is made by a small independent developer. If you have any questions about this policy, reach us at hello@tryunsentapp.com or visit tryunsentapp.com.
What We Collect — and Where It Lives
Almost everything stays on your phone. UnSent doesn't have user accounts, a backend server, or a database of your data in the cloud. The following is stored only in your device's local storage: your first name (so the app can greet you), your emotional responses from onboarding (to personalise your experience), journal entries, urge interceptor entries, your no-contact streak dates and progress data, notification preferences, night mode hours, and App Shield settings (which apps you've chosen to block and your chosen vulnerable hours). We do not collect your email address, location, device identifiers, or any analytics about how you use the app.
When Your Data Leaves Your Device
There are only two situations where data leaves your device, and both require your involvement.
Anthropic (AI Responses)
When you use the Journal or Urge Interceptor features, the text you write is sent to Anthropic's API so that Claude, a third-party AI model, can generate a supportive response for you. Before you use these features for the first time, the app will ask for your explicit consent through an in-app prompt that explains this data sharing. You can decline and still use the rest of the app. If you consent, your written content is transmitted temporarily to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic handles this data according to their privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy. We do not store any of this content on any server of our own, and we never use your journal or urge interceptor content to train AI models. You can review or revoke your AI consent at any time in the app's Settings.
RevenueCat and Apple (Subscriptions)
When you purchase a subscription, payment is processed through Apple In-App Purchase. RevenueCat helps us manage your subscription status. Neither we nor RevenueCat can see your full payment details — that's handled entirely by Apple. RevenueCat may receive your anonymised device identifier and subscription status. Their privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
App Shielding — Screen Time API
UnSent includes an optional App Shield feature that uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls framework) to temporarily block social media and messaging apps during hours you define as vulnerable. Here's exactly how it works: you explicitly enable this feature, you choose which apps to block and during which hours, the blocking happens entirely on your device, and you can turn it off at any time in your iPhone's Settings. No Screen Time data is ever transmitted off your device or shared with us or any third party. This feature uses Apple's Family Controls entitlement, which Apple requires us to declare. It does not involve parental controls or any monitoring by us — it is a self-directed tool you control entirely.
We Do Not
- ✕ Sell your data, ever.
- ✕ Share your data with advertisers.
- ✕ Store your journal entries on our servers.
- ✕ Access or monitor your Screen Time or app usage data.
- ✕ Build a profile of you for any external use.
- ✕ Track you across other apps or websites.
Push Notifications
If you give the app permission, we send local push notifications to support your no-contact streak. You can turn these off at any time in Settings → Notifications → UnSent.
Deleting Your Data
Since everything lives on your device, deleting the app removes all of it. There's nothing on our end to erase.
Your Rights (GDPR and CCPA)
You have the right to know what data we hold about you (it's all local on your device), request clarification on anything in this policy, and contact us with concerns at hello@tryunsentapp.com. If you're in the EU or UK, the legal basis for processing your data through Anthropic's API is your informed consent, obtained through the in-app prompt before first use of AI features. If you're in California, we confirm: we do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
A Note on Emotional Sensitivity ❤️🩹
We know this app touches something deeply personal. That's exactly why we built it to keep your data on your device by default. UnSent is a supportive tool — not a therapist, not a crisis service. If you're struggling beyond a breakup, please reach out to a mental health professional or a crisis line.
Children
UnSent is intended for users aged 17 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 17.
Changes to This Policy
We'll notify you through the app or website of any meaningful updates. The current version is always at tryunsentapp.com/privacy.
